Dementia Health Center

If you suspect you or someone you know is suffering from dementia symptoms contact a medical professional to conduct an assessment.

Generally, individuals with dementia will need assistance from a family member or professional caregiver. Consider the circumstances when choosing one of these options. It is often better for an individual with dementia to be in his or her home so that the surroundings will help to make him or her feel more comfortable. This may improve the individuals quality of life.

If you or one of your family members has dementia it is important to get support from friends and family to help deal with the burdens dementia brings. The caregiver should ensure that he or she is able to receive support. One of the ways to ensure this is to join or begin a support group. Dementia support groups can be found through an internet search or by contacting your healthcare provider.

There are also resources available for dementia patients, caregivers, friends, and families online. The American Alzheimer's Association is a great resource for finding help with dementia. There helpline can be reached at: 800.272.3900
