Purpose of Tums
Tums is an over-the-counter medication used to treat heartburn, sour stomach, acid indigestion, and upset stomach associated with these symptoms.

Tums FDA Warning
Tums products (excluding Tums Kids Cherry Blast):
Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are taking a prescription drug.
Antacids may interact with certain prescription drugs.
When using this product:
- in 24 hours, do not take more than: 7 tablets with Tums Ultra products, 9 tablets with Tums Extra products, 10 tablets with Tums Smoothies products, 15 tablets with Tums Regular and Freshers products
- do not use the maximum dosage for more than 2 weeks
- keep out of reach of children
Tums Kids Cherry Blast:
Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are taking a prescription drug.
Antacids may interact with certain prescription drugs.
When using this product, do not take more than 2 tablets (2 - 4 year olds) or 4 tablets (5 - 11 year olds) in 24 hours or use the maximum dosage for more than 2 weeks except under the advice and supervision of a doctor.
Keep out of reach of children.
Directions
Tums products (excluding Tums Kids Cherry Blast):
- To relieve upset or sour stomach, or to relieve heartburn: chew 2 - 4 tablets as symptoms occur, or as directed by a doctor (exception: 2-3 tablets with Tums Ultra products).
- As a calcium supplement, chew 2 tablets twice daily with a meal.
Pediatric Use
Tums Kids Cherry Blast:
To relieve upset or sour stomach:
- Find the right dose based on weight (preferred); otherwise use age. Chew 1/2 to 1 tablet as symptoms occur or as directed by a doctor.
- Under 24 pounds OR under 2 years of age: ask a doctor.
- Between 24-47 pounds OR between 2-4 years old: chew 1/2 a tablet.
- Over 48 pounds OR over 4 years old: chew 1 tablet.
As a calcium supplement:
If 2-4 years old: chew 1 tablet twice per day with a meal.
Adults and children over 4 years old: chew 1 tablet three times a day with a meal.
