Swimming Tips for Beginners

Swimming Alone

No matter what, never swim alone. The ARC recommends only swimming when a lifeguard is nearby — and this goes for adults too! Remember to never leave a young child unattended near water and do not trust a child’s life to another child. Make sure children know that they should always ask permission before going near water. The ARC also recommends that young children or inexperienced swimmers wear US Coast Guard-approved life jackets around water.
