Mom may have made you wait an hour after eating before jumping back in the pool but, according to Duke University School of Medicine, that may not be necessary. While the extra food may increase the blood supply to your digestive tract, this likely isn’t enough to deprive the blood flowing to your arms and legs that keep your muscles working properly. If swimming right after eating does affect you, chances are it will only cause a minor cramp.
