Smoking Cessation

Making a Plan

If you have decided to quit smoking, creating a plan is the next big step. By making a plan, you’ll know where to start, and you’ll be more likely to stick with it. The first step is picking your “quit day,” which is the first day on which you no longer smoke. Choosing a day that isn’t too far away, but also isn’t too close, is vital, as it’s important to have the rest of your plan in place before you quit. Next, prepare for the day by creating a support system and talking to your doctor. You can even join a quit-smoking support group. By having these systems in place, you’ll have people to turn to and you’ll be more likely to stay smoke-free.
