The Zone Diet, created by dailyRx Contributing Expert Dr. Barry Sears, is based on maintaining a strict caloric ratio of 40 percent carbohydrates to 30 percent protein and 30 percent fat. According to the Mayo Clinic, people can lose weight on low-carb diets because they are eating fewer calories and may lose water weight. Mayo Clinic adds that research has shown that after two years, people on low-carb diets lost more weight than those on low-fat diets. Talk to your doctor before starting any new diet.
