Be Cautious with Caffeine and Alcohol

Think first before downing that beer or cup of coffee before bedtime. Alcohol and coffee effects can last long after consumption and may affect sleep patterns. According to a study conducted by the University of Melbourne's Sleep Research Laboratory in Australia, alcohol may initially give way to drowsiness but, as the night wears on, sleep may become “significantly altered and disrupted.” Caffeine is a stimulant and has been associated with anxiety, rapid heartbeat and excessive urination — none of which make for a good night’s rest.
