According to the National Sleep Foundation (NSF), while sleep is extremely important for brain function, most teens don’t get enough of it. Teens who don’t get enough zzz’s may that find that their ability to concentrate, listen and learn is impaired. Sleepiness may also contribute to acne breakouts, and cause poor exam and athletic performance. The NSF recommends teens establish a regular sleep schedule and get 8 to 10 hours of sleep a night. It’s important to remember that, because teens’ bodies are still growing, they need more sleep than adults.
