Foods to Avoid During Pregnancy

Sushi

Here’s another pregnancy no-no: sushi. Both sushi and sashimi are made with raw fish and, while mercury can be an issue for these items as well, it’s the uncooked part that really makes them ones to avoid. Uncooked fish can carry parasites, which can harm both mother and baby. Parasites are most easily removed by cooking meats, which is not usually an option with sushi. If you do find yourself at a sushi restaurant, however, be sure to opt for a fully-cooked meal instead.
