All About Breast Cancer

Symptoms

Self-examinations for breast cancer are important because no one else knows your body better than you do. If you notice a lump in your breast or a thickening that feels different from the surrounding tissue, see your doctor right away. Other symptoms of breast cancer can include bloody discharge from the nipple or a newly inverted nipple. There may also be visible changes in the breast skin called dimpling. The skin may peel, flake or become scaly in the pigmented area surrounding the nipple. There could also be redness or “pitting” of the skin, where the skin looks similar to the skin of an orange.
