6 Tips for Managing Multiple Sclerosis

Eat a Healthy Diet

People with MS or any chronic disease need to maintain overall good health. To do so, they should eat a balanced diet. Experts recommend that MS patients eat the same diet that is recommended for anyone else — one that is low in fat and high in fiber. Although many different diets have been touted as treatments for MS, research has not pinpointed any special diet that would be specifically beneficial for patients with MS. Some diets may even be dangerous because they include potentially toxic levels of certain vitamins or leave out important nutrients. But the low-fat, high-fiber diet is typically safe and recommended for all Americans.
