Orajel Toothache is an over-the-counter medication used to temporarily treat pain due to toothache.

Active Ingredients

Orajel Regular Strength Toothache Pain Relief Gel: benzocaine 10%

Orajel Maximum Strength Toothache Pain Relief Liquid, Orajel Maximum Strength Toothache Pain Relief Swabs, Orajel Maximum Strength Toothache Pain Relief Gel, Orajel Severe Toothache Pain Relief Liquid: benzocaine 20%

Orajel Toothache FDA Warning

Flammable: Keep away from fire or flame. Avoid smoking during application and until product has dried (this warning applies to the liquid form).

Allergy alert: Do not use this product if you have a history of allergy to local anesthetics such as procaine, butacaine, benzocaine, or other "caine" anesthetics

Do not use:

  • more than directed
  • for more than 7 days unless directed by a dentist or doctor

Stop use and ask a doctor if:

  • swelling, rash, or fever develops
  • irritation, pain, or redness persists or worsens
  • symptoms do not improve in 7 days

Keep out of reach of children.

In case of overdose or allergic reaction, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away (1-800-222-1222).



 

Directions

Orajel Regular Strength Toothache Pain Relief Gel, Orajel Maximum Strength Toothache Pain Relief Gel:

  • Cut open tip of tube on score mark.
  • For adults and children over 2 years of age and over, apply a small amount of product to the cavity and around gum surrounding the teeth. Use up to 4 times daily or as directed by a dentist or doctor.

Orajel Maximum Strength Toothache Pain Relief Liquid, Orajel Severe Toothache Pain Relief Liquid:

  • Remove imprinted safety seal from bottle cap.
  • For adults and children over 2 years of age and over, apply a small amount of product to the cavity and around gum surrounding the teeth. Use up to 4 times daily or as directed by a dentist or doctor.

Orajel Maximum Strength Toothache Pain Relief Swabs:

For adults and children over 2 years of age and over:

  • Hold swab with solid white tip down.
  • Bend and snap open swab tip with the colored rings.
  • Apply product to the cavity and around gum surrounding the teeth.
  • Use up to 4 times daily or as directed by a dentist or doctor.
  • Discard swab after application.



 



 

Pediatric Use

  • Children under 12 years of age should be supervised in the use of this product.
  • For children under 2 years of age, ask a dentist or doctor.

  • Do not use if tube tip is cut prior to opening.
  • This preparation is intended for use in cases of toothache, only as a temporary expedient until a dentist can be consulted.
  • Do not use continuously.

Orajel Maximum Strength Toothache Pain Relief Liquid, Orajel Severe Toothache Pain Relief Liquid:

  • Do not use if imprinted bottle seal is broken or missing prior to opening.
  • This preparation is intended for use in cases of toothache, only as a temporary expedient until a dentist can be consulted.
  • Do not use continuously.

Orajel Maximum Strength Toothache Pain Relief Swabs:  

  • Do not use if label seal is broken prior to purchase or if the colored rings on tip are not blue.
  • This preparation is intended for use in cases of toothache, only as temporary expedient until a dentist can be consulted.
  • Do not use continuously.
