Betaxolol is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure. It is also used as an eye drop to treat ocular hypertension and chronic open-angle glaucoma. Betaxolol belongs to a group of drugs called beta blockers. These work by slowing the heart rate to increase blood flow and lower blood pressure. 

This medication comes in an oral (by mouth) tablet form and is usually taken once a day, with or without food. 

Betaxolol is also available as an eye drop and is usually used twice daily.

Common side effects of betaxolol tablets include headache and tiredness.

Betaxolol can also cause drowsiness and dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how betaxolol affects you.

Common side effects of betaxolol eye drops include itchy and dry eyes, eye discomfort, and blurred vision.
