Symptoms of head lice include:

• A tickling or moving feeling in the hair.
• Itching of the scalp due to an allergic reaction from lice bites. 
• Irritability and difficulty sleeping as head lice are most active in the dark. 
• Sores on the head caused by scratching, which can sometimes become infected with bacteria found on the skin.

If you think someone in your family has head lice, it's probably best to check the hair of everyone in the family.
