Flublok Gets Expanded Approval
Flublok Quadrivalent approved by FDA to protect against four flu strains

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a new version of the Flublok vaccine.
Flublok Quadrivalent was recently approved to protect against four flu strains. This vaccine will protect against two influenza A subtype viruses and two influenza type B viruses.
The FDA has approved Flublok Quadrivalent for use in patients 18 years of age and older.
This vaccine is available as an injection and is to be given into the muscle in the upper arm.
All influenza vaccines contain egg protein — with the exception of Flublok vaccines. This vaccine is an option for those who have an egg allergy.
Before receiving this vaccine, tell the person who is administering it — whether it's your doctor or pharmacist — if you have ever had Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS).
Common side effects of Flublok Quadrivalent include injection-site reactions like tenderness and pain.
