Winterizing Tips: Cleansing

When you wash your face in the winter, try washing at night with a gentle cleanser, instead of the morning. This way you'll avoid stripping the skin of natural oils that help protect against harsh winds. With that said, it's also a good idea to cut back the exfoliating to once a week. But this doesn't mean you can't still splash your face with warm water in the morning to help you wake up. You can also run a toner of witch hazel and tea tree oil over your face to remove excess oil without drying the skin. Cutting your shower time to five minutes in the winter will also help keep your skin healthy. Most shower water has chlorine in it, which dries the skin and since the cold weather is already drying your skin, just think of what a twenty minute shower will do.
