Yohimbe Interactions

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Especially tell your doctor if you take:

  • monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors such as tranylcypromine (Parnate), phenelzine (Nardil), selegiline (Eldepryl, Zelapar), isocarboxazid (Marplan), and rasagiline (Azilect)
  • medicines for high blood pressure
  • tricyclic antidepressants such as trimipramine (Surmontil), amitriptyline (Elavil), nortriptyline (Pamelor, Aventyl), protriptyline (Vivactil), and clomipramine (Anafranil)
  • phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine (Thorazine, Chlor-PZ), thioridazine (Mellaril, Novoridazine, Thioril), fluphenazine (Prolixin, Permitil, Modecate, Moditen), pherphenazine (Triavil), prochlorperazine (Compazine), and trifluoperazine (Stelazine)

Special precautions & warnings:

  • Yohimbe can be dangerous if taken in large doses or for long periods of time.
