Dong quai is used most often for menopausal symptoms, menstrual disorders, anemia, constipation, liver disease, and pain management.

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Especially tell your doctor if you take:

  • Anticoagulants (such as warfarin, dabigatran, rivaroxaban, apixaban)
  • Antiplatelet agents (such as aspirin, clopidogrel, cilostazol, prasugrel, ticagrelor, and ticlopidine)

Dong Quai Precautions

Special precautions & warnings:

  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using dong quai if you are pregnant, breast-feeding, or trying to become pregnant. 
  • Children and individuals with diarrhea, bleeding disorders, or heavy or long menstruation should not use dong quai.
