Tooth Decay:

  • A good habit to make is brushing teeth at least twice a day, if not bacteria from plaque can produce acids that may damage enamel. This will cause holes to form in teeth causing toothaches.

Gum Disease:

  • Symptoms of gum disease can include red or swollen gums, bleeding of the gums, loosened teeth, difficulty chewing and the need for teeth extractions if left untreated.

Dry Mouth:

  • Symptoms of dry mouth can include difficulty swallowing, eating, or speaking.

Oral Cancer:

  • Possible symptoms of oral cancer include a white or red patch in the mouth, a feeling that something is caught in the throat, difficulty chewing or swallowing, difficulty moving the jaw, numbness of the tongue or mouth, and pain in one ear without hearing loss. See a health care provider if these symptoms persist for more than 2 weeks.
