Chronic Pain Health Center

It may be difficult for a doctor or healthcare professional to make a proper diagnosis for the presence of chronic pain. Often, there is not a preexisting condition or past injury to explain the pain a person is feeling.

Chronic pain often shows no outward signs or symptoms; it is something felt by you and you alone. A diagnosis can only be made if you seek out medical assistance and treatment from your doctor or healthcare professional. If you are experiencing pain that you cannot explain or pain that you cannot easily manage, schedule a physical examination with your doctor to see if there may be an underlying cause.

Many of the treatments for chronic pain are alternative or experimental, as there is no one universal cure. Speak with your physician and ask what has worked for others and what he or she would recommend for you. Make sure to bring up any conditions you have as well as your family medical history, which may provide clues to your pain.
