When to Have a Hysterectomy

It's important to understand that there ARE cases when hysterectomy is the best option. For example, women with treatment-resistant, symptomatic fibroids, which are non-cancerous tumors, can benefit from uterus removal. So can women with cervical, uterine, or ovarian cancer, and those with constant vaginal bleeding due to adenomyosis, a condition in which the tissue lining the uterus grows INTO the uterus's muscular walls. In cases like these, hysterectomy can vastly improve - or even save - a woman's life.
