Tavist

Purpose of Tavist

Tavist Allergy is a non-prescription medication that is used to treat hay fever (aka seasonal allergies) and upper respiratory allergies.  Symptoms of allergies include sneezing, runny nose, itchy and watery eyes, and itching in the nose and throat.

Upper respiratory allergies are a result of breathing in allergens.  Allergens are anything that causes an allergic reaction.  Trees, weeds, grasses, and fungus all release allergens in the form of tiny pollen grains.  When the body detects a foreign invader, the body releases histamine.  Histamine is responsible for most upper respiratory and allergy symptoms.  Tavist Allergy works by blocking the negative effects of histamine which helps temporarily relieve allergy symptoms.
