The forward fold of this pose can help the lungs to inhale and exhale more completely. Chest muscles are also used to bend the body backwards in Sun Salutations, which may build stamina. After yoga, COPD patients may experience positive muscle changes and less labored breathing. This may increase a patient’s capacity to relax.
