Intuniv is a prescription medication used to treat the symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children.
Intuniv belongs to a group of drugs called centrally acting alpha 2A -adrenergic receptor agonists. Intuniv may treat ADHD by affecting the part of the brain that controls attention and impulsivity.
Intuniv comes as an extended-release tablet and is usually taken once daily. Swallow Intuniv tablets whole. Do not chew, crush or break Intuniv tablets.
Common side effects include dry mouth, weakness and headache. Intuniv can cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how this medication affects you.
