D. Gregory Farwell, MD, FACS

D. Gregory Farwell, MD, graduated first in his class from Washington University School of Medicine before performing his Otolaryngology training at the University of Washington. During his training he performed a head and neck cancer research fellowship at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. He has been on faculty at the University of Washington and is currently at the University of California, Davis. He currently leads the multidisciplinary head and neck cancer team as the Director of Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Surgery. His research interests center on novel diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in head and neck cancer with his collaborators in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UC Davis. He works closely with colleagues in Radiation Oncology developing new clinical trials to improve the success of curing the cancer and optimizing post-treatment function. His surgical career has been centered on the comprehensive management of head and neck and thyroid tumors. He participated in several innovative surgical procedures involving minimally invasive laser and robotic procedures, as well as microvascular reconstructive procedures, including a larynx transplant.
