ZMapp Supply Runs Dry

Mapp Biopharmaceuticals runs out of experimental Ebola medication ZMapp

(RxWiki News) The maker of an experimental Ebola treatment announced that it has run out of the medication.

That medication is called ZMapp, and it is manufactured by Mapp Biopharmaceuticals.

"The available supply of ZMapp is exhausted," the San Diego-based company said in a press statement.

Mapp did not disclose which West African countries received its supply. Some reports say that Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf requested the medication.

The pharmaceutical company said that it is up to those who requested the medication to decide whether they want the public to know that they requested, obtained or used the experimental treatment.

The company added that it provided the medication "at no cost in all cases."
