Deluxe Ice Cream (a subsidiary of Matterhorn Group, Inc.) of Salem, OR, in cooperation with the FDA is recalling Western Family Maple Nut Ice Cream because it may contain undeclared peanuts.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Western Family Maple Nut Ice Cream (56 fl oz) was distributed to retail stores in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, California, Alaska and Guam.

The product being recalled has a UPC code of 15400-22808 and a stamped code of "Best By 07-23-11 Plant 41-48" followed by a four-digit time code.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that product containing peanuts was distributed in Maple Nut Ice Cream packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by operator error in the packaging process.
